My Adventures in the Culinary World

After little time and consideration, I decided to keep a record of sorts of my various food exploits. I really haven't learned how to cook until the past couple years when it became necessary for me to lose a few pounds and eating out several times a week rarely does wonders for one's figure.

As for the name of the blog, Sticky Fingers seems apt as usually I'm a mess after one of my culinary ventures. The other name...Déjà Vu, How To Cook...is a very vague reference to an episode of the cartoon show Garfield and Friends (as any of you children of the 80's probably remembers). For some reason the US Acres bit where Orson was cleaning out his pig sty and he had multiple copies of two books...Déjà Vu and How To Cook...just stuck in my young mind. For many years I thought Déjà Vu was a cooking technique.

So what differentiates me from the approximately 2,454,803 blogs out there devoted to cooking (1,482,049 after Julie and Julia opened in theaters)? Probably not much to be honest...I don't have an angle or gimmick to pull people in. I'm too lazy to pick out a certain cookbook and make everything in between the covers. My tastes vary too greatly to stick to only one cuisine. I see this blog as more of a journey...discovering new ingredients, techniques and equipment that can take my cooking to the next level. I'll probably wander wildly off subject...such as what music I'm listening to while I'm cooking a certain recipe or complain about the stain on my counter created by Fiori di Sicilia. Maybe it will develop into something narrower in the future but I'll let it flow to that point instead of forcing it into a certain direction.

I can't make promises of how often I'll update (or cook for that matter) but I do hope dear readers, you will find this blog enjoyable. I'll try to occasionally cover recipes past and post the ingredients and modifications I did...and if the end product was great or a total failure.

Keep Full, Folks.

  2. Sorry, but any notion of you being a "foodie" is clearly a delusion. You'd do better to live in the world of reality and not spend too much time day-dreaming about being on the food network.
